MFT Camp Create 2019 Session Two: Awesome Ombre

The challenge for Day 5 at My Favorite Things Camp Create was to create an ombre effect on your card/project. I had a lot of fun with this one. I love Alice in Wonderland and how wacky everything is in the movie and wanted my card to look fun and wacky as well. I created the background with patterned paper and some die cut circles. I inked the circles with distress creating an ombre look. I stamped the Mad Hatter image on scraps of patterned paper and cut the pieces out to create his colorful attire.

Here's the badge I earned for participating in today's challenge.

MFT Camp Create 2019 Session Two: Monochromatic Magic

The challenge for Day 4 at My Favorite Things Camp Create was to create a monochromatic card. For my card, I decided to go with the color blueish gray. This card came together pretty quickly once I selected the paper I wanted to use. I layered the papers and then added a small strip of white so the stamped sentiment would stand out against the background.

Here's the badge I earned for participating in today's challenge.

MFT Camp Create 2019 Session Two: Background Bananza

The challenge for Day 3 at My Favorite Things Camp Create was to create a bold background. For my card, I inked a strip of paper in rainbow colors and then cut out large letters to create a fun background. The font resembled balloons which I thought was perfect for this birthday card. I then stamped the cute little panda and added the embossed Happy Birthday sentiment.

Here's the badge I earned for today's participation.

MFT Camp Create 2019 Session Two: Magnificent Masking

The challenge for Day 2 at My Favorite Things Camp Create was to create a card using masking. This is one of my favorite techniques to use with watercolor. For my card, I cut out the words thank you from vinyl and placed it on watercolor paper. Then I stamped the flowers over the words and watercolored over it all. Once my card panel was dry I carefully removed the vinyl words to reveal the masked sentiment. I love the way this one turned out and the crisp results that I get when using vinyl for masking.

Here's the badge I received for participating in today's challenge.

MFT Camp Create 2019 Session Two: Inlaid Made Easy

For today's challenge at My Favorite Things Camp Create we were asked to create a card using inlaid die cuts. I only have a few basic die cuts so I decided to cut a heart image from Cricut Design Space. I also cut the same heart image from the background paper so I could inlay the heart and other pieces into the background. The rectangle pieces are also inlaid. I cut those out using stitched die cuts and my Cuttlebug.

This technique creates a card without the bulk which is ideal for mailing.

Here's the badge I earned for participating in today's challenge, Inlaid Made Easy.

Challenge #206 Lavender Lightning

I joined in on the fun over at As You See It Challenge with Challenge #206 Lavender Lightning.

The challenge was to create a card using only purples and neutrals but with a twist. You had to set a timer for 10 minutes and that’s all the time you got. Yep...10 minutes. I came up with a design, got my supplies ready and thought for sure I could do it with a simple design. Nope. My first card attempt was a huge fail. I went over the 10 minutes and had to scrap the card and start over. I moved  faster on my second attempt and just barely made it with a minute to spare. Here’s my card.

I made my card by stamping a floral image onto watercolor paper using clear emboss ink. Then I embossed the image with white embossing powder. I watercolored over the embossed image using distress inks in Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac. I stamped the sentiment on purple card stock and added a few clear sequins to give it a little sparkle. I adhered the card panel to white cardstock using foam tape. Even though the challenge was tough, it was a lot of fun.

Supplies Used:
Clear Ranger Emboss It Ink Pad
White Embossing Powder
Clear Sequins
Stamps
Stratford Watercolor Paper
Ranger Glossy Accents
Foam Tape
Versafine Oynx Black Ink
Distress Inks in Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac
